LOCATION

About Manacor de la Vall

Mancor de la Vall, a charming municipality of Mallorca situated in the Tramuntana and Raiguer mountain range, extends over 19.82 km² with a population of 1230 inhabitants. Surrounded by mountains, pine and holm oak forests, its main crops are dry crops and olive trees, with the shoe industry being the only one present.

The property known as “Son Tafona” is an 18th century construction, with reforms carried out mainly in the 19th century. It was the ancestral home of the Amengual de sa Tafona family.

In 1719, it belonged to Joan Amengual Tafona, lieutenant to the royal mayor in Mancor, who was shot dead by assailants on the 24th of September of that year.

It was the birthplace of Dr. Joan Josep Amengual, historian, writer, philologist and mayor of Binissalem, and of his brother Bartomeu, a monk of La Real.

It later became the property of the Alba family and has now been converted into three single-family homes. Calle Biniarroi was formerly known as Calle de Son Tafona, precisely because of this house.
